Killing Of Businessman In Trinco – 4 Police Officers Including HQI Interdicted

Four police officers of Trincomalee Police including the Headquarter Inspector have been interdicted in relation to killing by shooting a businessman at Mahamayapura in Trincomalee. The businessman was shot while the police was attempting to arrest him. The police officers interdicted are HQI W.R.A. Dharmasena Ratnayake, Police Constables H.B.V. Samaratunga (61880), H.A. Asanga Karunaratne (61867) and Police Driver Abdul Cader (23562).

Trincomalee town was tense during the past few days as a result of the killing of businessman B.R. Regie who was shot on the 13th at Mahamayapura in Trincomalee. The people campaigned against the police killing of an innocent person and a court order too had to be obtained to carry out last rights for the assassinated person.

The whole Trincomalee town was tense and black flags had been hoisted in the town protesting against police brutality. However, an unknown gang had removed all the black flags and masses have expressed their opposition for this act as well.
