Revengeful acts of the Lake House Chairman on the increase

Lake House Chairman Bandula Padmakumara is reputedly harassing and victimizing trade union members affiliated to the institution.

The Chairman’s latest prey is said to be journalist Duminda Sampath from the Provincial News unit from the Dinamina newspaper. He is an active member of the Independent Workers’ Union at Lake House.

Sources said that Duminda has been transferred from the training and research division to the provincial news division and is being assigned a massive amount of work each day. If he fails to complete the workload assigned to him for each day, he is severely reprimanded, sources said.

  The editor of the provincial news division is said to be carrying out the task of harassing Duminda on behalf of the Chairman. The journalist had been reprimanded in foul language in front of editorial staff recently and the Chairman has so far not granted approval to a request made by Duminda to another department at Lake House.

The editor of the provincial news division was a former member of the Jathika Sevaka Sangamaya at Lake House and was held back at the training and research division until he was appointed to his current post with a salary increment after agreeing to support the Chairman.

Journalist Gamini Bandaranayake, who was in the features division of the Dinamina newspaper and a member of the Jathika Sevaka Sangamaya, was also transferred to the training and research division recently. His affiliation to the Jathika Sevaka Sangamaya has been the only reason for his transfer.
