One of the President’s friendly drivers appointed as Rupavahini Director General
Newly appointed Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation (SLRC) Chairman Sarath Kongahage has appointed a driver as a deputy director general of the institution. Driver G.D. Somapala has been appointed as a director general of SLRC.
After joining the institution as a casual laborer, he had received a position in the Corporation as a driver. The respective driver, who had a close friendship with the President, had been appointed as a transport manager at SLRC soon after the 2005 Presidential election. He has now been appointed as a deputy director general. Meanwhile, 10 members from the Nil Balakaya are slated to be appointed to 10 key positions in the institution and office rooms for them have already been allocated at the SLRC.
