President Orders Rs.58.00 For A Family Displaced By Rain!

The official web site of the government announces that Rs.3 million has been made available to District Secretaries to bring relief to people who have been displaced due to heavy rains that experienced in Colombo, Gampaha and Kalutara Districts.

 

According to Disaster Management Centre nearly 51000 families have been displaced at the moment. According to DMC 21,000 families from Colombo District, nearly 26,000 families from Gampaha District and 5000 families from Kalutara District have been displaced due to rain water. As such, The President has made available nearly Rs.58.00 for a family to bring relief to them.  

 

Many houses are completely submerged in water due to rain that has continued for several days and the government has not been able to provide at least temporary shelter to these people. Our reporters say if the unfavourable weather conditions continue people affected by the rain water would have to starve.
