The main aim of the camping is to create an impression that the respective MPs
were opposing the proposed constitutional amendment due to the monies received
by them from foreign NGOs and LTTE sympathizers.
A director at the Presidential Media Unit, Mahinda Illepruma had last week
discussed the matter with several editors of Sunday newspapers.
Therefore, several Sinhala weekly newspapers had written articles critical of
the five Leftist MPs in the government.
Illepruma had told the media heads that the President had stated that people who
have received funds from NGOs opposed the constitutional amendments and that
such persons could leave the government.
