‘Bacardi’ which has its headquarters in Hamilton in Bermuda sells in excess
of 200 million bottles per year in nearly 100 countries and its sales in 2007
were US$5.5 billion.
According to law in Sri Lanka providing free liquor for advertising purposes is
illegal. However, the government has given permission to this world famous
liquor giant to violate Sri Lankan law to advertise its products. Many have
expressed their dismay at the humiliation of those advocated ‘Mathata
Thitha’ campaign put forward by ‘Mahinda Chinthanaya’ and ask what action
they would take regarding such acts of the government to popularize Bacardi’
liquors.
